Membership
To become a member of the Police Youth Club movement of Jamaica, you are required to visit a local club for three (3) consecutive meetings, at which point you become eligible for membership. You will receive the by-laws, rules, codes of conduct etc upon your orientation.
Sports
The Police Youth Club movement of Jamaica has a very rich heritage in sports and some of our ventured areas are: Football, Netball, Volleyball, Cricket, Table Tennis, Track and Field, Board sports and recently, Floorball.
Volunteerism
The Police Youth Club movement in Jamaica is one that utilises and promotes 100% volunteerism and active participation of its members. Presently, clubites have been offering of themselves in almost every area of life eg. Volunteering at supermarkets, assisting the aged in our communities, painting pedestrian crossings, refurbishing landmarks etc... We are among the leaders in volunteerism.
| Education and Training
As was mentioned, we are partnering with the public and private sectors in ensuring that our clubites receive adquate training. Currently, we train members in a wide field of capacity building and this will be further strengthened. Educationally, the Police Youth Club movement operates a number of Homework Centers, and these all contribute to our members; those who require additional impartation. We also offer scholarships, and this program will be expanded to reach a wider variety of our youth. We have partnered with the HEART trust in providing certification for clubites in basic skill areas. We also partnered with the Royale college of Arts and Social Sciences in giving clubites FULL and HALF scholarships to acquire a first degree.
Youth Employment
The Police Youth Club movement is now in partnership with the National Youth Service, The HEART trust NTA, Youth Employment Services, The Jamaica Social Investment Fund among others, all geared at fostering and strengthening the employment powers of the National Council, to benefit the entire movement.
We have made youngsters into entreprenuers, and this will be expanded from the pilot areas, to encompass the entire movement. |
